Poland is committed to generating at least 32% of its energy from renewable sources by 2030. To meet this goal, it must replace stable but environmentally damaging coal power with renewable energy sources. The report, “Small hydropower plants in Poland ”proposes regulatory changes to support the development of small hydropower plants to increase the country’s decarbonization potential.

Appeal “We will unlock the potential of onshore wind energy”

Representatives of the wind power industry, other private sector industries and local government called for the release of onshore wind power development through the immediate finalization and adoption of amendments to the Wind Power Investment Law (10H liberalization).

The dynamic development of this sector will ensure a low-cost supply of green energy, allowing to accelerate the process of becoming independent of fossil fuel supplies from Russia.

The 10H windmill law amendment was approved by the government on July 5, 2022.

Report “Climate Education in Poland 2022 – Recommendations of the Roundtable”

The report “Climate Education in Poland 2022 – Recommendations of the Roundtable” summarizes the year-long work of the Roundtable for Climate Education.

Climate change content should be introduced in a comprehensive manner at each stage of education and teachers must be equipped with appropriate knowledge and competencies.

Representatives of youth, parents, teachers and academia alike should be involved in the process of implementing climate education in Polish schools.

In addition to the demands, the report also includes an analysis of the attitudes of political parties toward the climate crisis and climate education, as well as the voices of UN representatives.

UN GCNP report “Green Railway”

The “Green Railway” report contains expert opinions analyzing the effects of the railroad’s energy transition to power from Renewable Energy Sources (RES). The program for this transformation, called Green Railway, created by rail industry players gathered in the Center for Energy Efficiency of Railways (CEEK), involves changing the origin of traction electricity used by rail carriers in Poland. In 2030, it is to come from 85% RES.

The UN Global Compact Network Poland report, “The Need for Transformation of Current Urban Models,” contains a set of recommendations that facilitate the implementation of sustainable architecture principles into practice. The construction industry must undergo a thorough transformation to minimize its impact on the natural environment, thereby supporting the achievement of the European Union’s goal of climate neutrality by 2050.

Business Council Recommendations at the 11th World Urban Forum

“Recommendations for Cities” are the result of the work of the Business Advisory Council established by the UN Global Compact Network Poland (UN GCNP) and the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy, experts involved in urban transformation, and BFirst.Tech – the Knowledge Partner of UN GCNP in the areas of environmental acoustics and intelligent monitoring and diagnostics of industrial infrastructure.
